Before expresses a geometry that is at first sight calm, but if looked more carefully it reveals a small unexpected movement, almost a light bradyseism.
After has the same geometric structure, collapsed in disorder after an aftershock.
Both express the passage of time that can undermine all acquired certainties in an instant.
